Today's Thought: Fall TV is going to suck. Part 1. Sneak Peek Preview

Last night I got a "sneak preview" of a brand new comedy for the fall, "Go On" with Matthew Perry on NBC. This show sucked. Let me back up. This show sucked ever since I saw the advertisement for it in May. Why? Let me enlighten you.

1. Who wants to watch Matthew Perry?
Matthew Perry is not funny naturally. He is only kind of funny when he has good material to go off of. Plus, he looks like plastic. I am not sure if the make-up "artist" just really did a bad job or it is just the lighting but he just looks bad. Lastly, Friends is over. You can't ride the gravy train forever and shame on NBC for forcing us to watch him and enabling him to ride it.

2. Who wants to watch a sitcom about therapy groups?
Now don't get me wrong, this girl is a big fan of reality therapy TV and of dramatic therapy series. There is nothing, however, you can ingest into a group therapy session that will make this funny enough for me to continue watching it.

3. Sitcoms on NBC generally are really hit or miss.
I love the following current sitcoms on NBC: Community, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, and (soon to be no more) The Office. I dislike Whitney and that one, you know, Christina Applegate and Will Arnett...
Anyways, I am usually not a fan especially if you have been pushing it on me since May. By September I am just annoyed.

4. The only, ONLY, actor that has been able to recreate himself several times on TV is Kelsey Grammer.
This came to me this morning. He was first on Cheers (good), then Frasier(better), now Boss(even better). Good for him! Matthew Perry doesn't stand a chance since he doesn't have half the chops, wit, and vocal talent that Mr. Grammer does. Let's pull the plug now and save him the embarrassment.

For these reasons, new shows for the fall are going to suck.
